Sugarloaf and City Tour
Ascend by cable car to the peak of Sugarloaf. Ride through Flamengo Park and downtown. Visit the Metropolitan Cathedral. See the architectural monuments of Rio. Pass by Maracana Soccer Stadium. Return via the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon.
Duration 4 hours. Daily tour in the morning and afternoon.

Corcovado and Southern Beaches
Ride to the top of the Corcovado (Christ) mountain and enjoy the panoramic view of the city. Drive by Barra da Tijuca and Rio's southern beaches.

Samba School
 Ride through the lights of Rio to either Mangueira or Salgueiro Samba school, where we will attend a rehearsal & show in which the Cariocas prepare for their Carnival Parade (view Mangueira video).
Duration 5 hours. Not available every day or after Carnaval. Table seating, welcome drink and Hotel pick-up and drop-off included.

Plataforma Show
 Some label it ‘tourist trap,’ but it is by far the best Carnival show you can get - when it is not Carnival. Gorgeous women in spectacular costumes (‘fantasias’) let you enjoy fast rhythms including Samba and Frevo. An acrobatic Capoeira act will intrigue you. The show is fast-paced and very entertaining.
For a more authentic but less colorful experience, visit a Samba school rehearsal (see above). Hotel pick-up/drop off and Churrascaria dinner included.

“Cidade de Samba” (City of Samba)
 An evening show of Samba performances during the year, when Samba Schools do not train or perform. Each School presents their mascots with photo opportunities with performers and dancers.

Green Coast and Ilha Grande or Angra Dos Reis
 Depart from the hotel to Angra dos Reis. On the way, along the Rio-Santos road, we will pass by Itaguai, Itacuruca and Mangaratiba. Cruise to Angra Dos Reis island or Ilha Grande bay where you can swim in the Ocean. Lunch (assorted buffet). Return from there.
Duration 10 hours. Ilha Grande only Thursdays. Angra Dos Reis island only Wednesdays. 150 Reais per person*.
Buzios
 See the huge salinas along the road to Sao Pedro da Aldeia, canals and beaches. Buzios and the beauty of its Costa do Sol. Boat ride and lunch included.

Petropolis
 Ride up the Serra Do Orgaos where you have wonderful sights. Visit the Imperial Museum (D. Pedro II's belongings). Visit the cathedral and historical monuments in town. Return to the hotel in Rio.

Best of Rio de Janeiro
Best Feijoada
Brazil's national dish, tracing back to slaves cooking pork leftovers with black beans. Today it also includes beef and sausage, and is served with ground manioc, collard greens and orange slices.
Saturday is Feijoada day.
Caesar Park in Ipanema (Avenida Viera Souto 460) has an excellent Feijoada buffet. The meats are cooked in separate pots, so you can pass on the pig ears and feet if you don't feel like it.
Best Caipirinhia
Anywhere on Avenida Atlantica in Copacabana. Sit down, sip a Caipi, or two or three ... and watch the scene.
Best Churrascaria
Marius in Leme (Avenida Atlantica 290). You hardly find more delicious BBQ meats. Nice atmosphere.
Everything from most tender steaks and "Picanhas" to grilled chicken hearts. Brought by the table for your ongoing choice, all you can eat.

Baronetti in Ipanema (Rua Barao da Torre 354). Mix: soulful and progressive house dominates, but also club classics or hip hop and R'n'B. Upscale, beautiful design and trendy crowd. Packed on weekends, arrive early and grab some of the excellent Sushi (try the hot roll).
